Aiken, South Carolina –  Held inside due to rain, Westminster Memory Care of Aiken broke ground on a $12.5-million, 48-unit, luxury senior living community designed specifically to serve seniors with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This will be the first memory-care-only-community in Aiken, S.C.. The community was designed specifically to serve seniors with memory loss through adult day care and full time resident programs, allowing seniors to live as independently as possible in a safe and caring environment

“We saw the need for memory care in the Aiken, South Carolina area, and we are thrilled to bring the first ever memory care community to this amazing city,” said (James) Skip Deupree, Developer at Westminster Memory Care.

Westminster Memory Care of Aiken will have a primary focus on meeting memory care specific needs of its residents. The community will consist of a two-pod neighborhood with a total of 48 beds in spacious, 375 square foot private suites with private baths. Each pod will have its own dining and activity space with bird aviaries and virtual aquariums for its residents.  Built specifically for seniors with Alzheimer’s or memory care, the community will have the latest technology and services, including lights programmed to the circadian rhythm and natural skylights. The residents will also be able to enjoy scenic walking trails and courtyards throughout the community.
